The Partnership has a priority target of recruiting and retaining quality teachers to north east Bedfordshire, Peterborough, south Lincolnshire, north Cambridgeshire (including Fenland) and the Western area of Norfolk.

For the academic year 2009-2010, the Partnership is working with 91 Graduate Teacher trainees.
N.B. The Partnership is currently ONLY recruiting for secondary phase applicants.


The Cambridge Partnership is an accredited Employment Based Initial Teacher Training route (EBITT).


Features of the Partnership

Our objective is to recruit and train local applicants, providing high quality teachers to meet local opportunities within the region. This recruitment and subsequent retention of trainees in local schools is a key feature of the Partnership as confirmed by the procedures we have adopted.

The Partnership is working within the remit of the EBR and the framework provided by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA). Within this framework, however, the Executive Committee of the Partnership has established a number of important principles:

• All training places confirmed by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) for training during any academic year will be allocated to successful applicants for a September start. There will be no full-time training programmes commencing in January or in the third term.
• During this training year, all successful applicants will be employed by schools. Applications for such places must be accompanied by agreement of the sponsoring school.
• The Partnership will manage both the training programme and the school placements. All trainees will undertake two different professional placements. Placement one will be in a school that is in contrast to your sponsoring school -in which you will complete your second placement. Individuals are not expected to negotiate a contrasting first placement school.
• Successful applicants will become members of the Partnership training programme, a course which includes both central and school-based training. Individuals are thus members of a training group within their locality, having the opportunity to share professional issues within centrally -based sessions as well as in a school location. The training programme is designed to embrace the essential professional requirements for Secondary (11-19yrs.) teaching, as well as catering for individual trainee needs.
• All trainees will have an Individual Training Programme (ITP) which takes account of their course entry audits and the subsequent components of the co-ordinated training programme are designed to create a personal approach to the training year.

Cambridge Partnership is a provider of very high quality initial teacher education and training. To do this it draws upon a successful high quality training and support within our experienced Partnership schools.


The Secondary programme consists of:

• Subject studies: a course tailored to meet individual needs to ensure that trainees have appropriate subject knowledge and understanding to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum and GCSE and post-16 National Examination courses in their subject areas.
• Professional Studies: a course which embraces professional issues relevant to teaching in secondary schools in the twenty-first century, irrespective of subject or location.
• Teaching studies: two professional placements which lead to teaching competence, confidence and independence in preparation for a successful career.
• Individual Studies: providing trainees with opportunities to complete assignments in relation to each of the three inter-dependent elements of the course and to further advance their individual preparation.
• Personal elements located within the Individual Training Programme.

The delivery of our programme is undertaken by experienced ITT providers and school colleagues. Together they provide you with an essential, collaborative approach to becoming a Newly Qualified Teacher.

All secondary trainees are continuously assessed, internal and external assessors visiting at key stages of the training year
